Porchlight Films was formed in 1996 by three producers; Vincent Sheehan, Liz Watts and Anita Sheehan, with a shared vision and commitment to independently produce distinctive Australian film and television.

Porchlight Films is now one of Australia's leading production companies with a catalogue of award winning feature films, television dramas, documentaries and short films. Porchlight produced the independent box office hit Mullet (2001), and the critically acclaimed Walking On Water (2002), winner of 5 AFI Awards.

The Home Song Stories starring Joan Chen premiered at the 2007 Berlin Film Festival and screened in official selection at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival. The short feature Jewboy, directed by Tony Krawitz, was selected for Un Certain Regard Cannes Film Festival in 2005 and Sundance in 2006 and won the 2005 AFI award for Best Short Film.

Little Fish, directed by Rowan Woods and starring Cate Blanchett, Sam Neill and Hugo Weaving screened at the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival. It received 5 AFI awards and 4 IF Awards including the 2005 Box Office achievement award. Prime Mover from writer director David Caesar starring Michael Dorman and Emily Barclay was released in late 2009 and now available on DVD. 

Porchlight's most recent feature Animal Kingdom, produced by Liz Watts, won the World Cinema Jury Prize at Sundance 2010. It is currently in Cinemas in Australia. The film stars Guy Pearce, Ben Mendelsohn, Joel Edgerton and Jacki Weaver.  Writer and Director, David Michôd was recently named in Variety's Top 10 Director's to Watch for 2010.
